Description

Over 6 million copies sold around the world. The original book from Morgan Housel, the New York Times bestselling author of Same As Ever. Doing well with money isn't necessarily about what you know. It's about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people. Money – investing, personal finance, and business decisions – is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don't make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to make better sense of one of life's most important topics.

I have been CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER for 32 years and I found this book fascinating. When my kids were little, I read them The Richest Man in Babylon, this is the adult version. So much good, no nonsense, smart ideas to get people on the right track with their money. My grown-up sons will all get a copy of this book for Christmas!

I really like the principles in this book! A little bit of a slow read, but it was my first time exploring finance books. Very eye opening however. Definitely going to implement this in my day to day.

Formulaic and and great introductory read. Scratches the surface, but isn’t a great book for someone who has more than basic financial literacy.
  • Superb advice!

Excellent. Common sense. Save, Dollar cost average in an index fund and patience. It really is that simple. My best friend did that and I traded. I’ve done ok. But he has whacked it, both of us are mid 60s. He started averaging in mid 80s. I started buying stocks mid 90s. I probably averaged 5% and him 10-12%. Truth! Me 1m him 5m.

Investing can be stressful if we let it. Timing the market is stressful as well as picking stocks. This book helped me sit down and determine what is important to me and my family.
