#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING RYAN GOSLING AND DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER LORD AND PHIL MILLER

From the author of The Martian, a lone astronaut must save the earth from disaster in this “propulsive” (Entertainment Weekly), cinematic thriller full of suspense, humor, and fascinating science.

HUGO AWARD FINALIST • ONE OF THE YEAR’S BEST BOOKS: Bill Gates, GatesNotes, New York Public Library, Parade, Newsweek, Polygon, Shelf Awareness, She Reads, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal • “An epic story of redemption, discovery and cool speculative sci-fi.”—USA Today

“If you loved The Martian, you’ll go crazy for Weir’s latest.”—The Washington Post

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?

An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could deliver, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian—while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

A masterfully constructed yarn that is exceedingly thorough and seamless in it’s logic and construction. I consider this to be a true masterpiece of SciFi writing. Very well done, Mr Weir, very well done!
  • Another genius by Andy weir

This is one of the best sci fi books I have ever read. (Second only to the Martian) I highly recommend this to anyone who likes sci-fi. The whole book is full of science and alien life, just amazing

I’ve been hooked on Andy Weir since The Martian, and I knew this book wouldn’t disappoint. Andy strikes the perfect balance of science-fiction and scientific accuracy to tell incredible stories. I’ve never audibly chuckled while reading a book, smiled to myself while reading a book, or even genuinely teared up while reading a book until Project Hail Mary. Incredible from start to finish.

The concept was excellent. I really wanted to like this book. Maybe I just hate Andy Weir’s style but the only reason I kept reading this book was because of the small strand of hope that it would get better. It did not. The flashbacks were poorly timed and a lazy way to tell the reader what was happening and why he was in space in the first place. The ending was bad. The characters were boring and, in most cases, completely insufferable. The dialogue was so artificial and extremely boring to sit through. Very unfortunate for me because as I said the concept was very intriguing. I wish he had executed it better

Absolutely fabulous. I could write a book (no pun intended) on how much I loved this book but I will keep it short and simply say…read it.
  • Made me love reading again.

Truly entertaining. An incredible read, top tier escapism, perfect ending. Couldn’t put it down. The movie better do it justice; I’ll be first in line.
  • Warm, funny, and somewhat approachable read

Funny, emotional, and occasionally thrilling. I knocked off one star for a subjective reason- I’m not a science person and barely know the righty-tighty lefty-loosey rule, so a fair bit of the jargon went right over my head. Anyone else similarly situated might likewise glaze over during those passages. But genuinely a fun and enlightening read.
  • Best book ever
