Othello
William Shakespeare · 1604
A Moorish general in Venice is destroyed by his ensign's jealousy. Iago is Shakespeare's most terrifying villain because his evil seems motiveless, or rather, endlessly motivated. The play is about race, jealousy, and manipulation, and it's almost unbearable to watch because you can see the trap closing from the first scene.
